I forgot to activate my 2k epoxy primer HELP

Hey guys, tonight I am finding out that the little red cap on the SprayMax 2k Epoxy Primer cans are removable and have a use. I am not a painter, never knew a painter, nor even aspired to be one. About 6 months ago I sprayed my entire engine bay with 2k epoxy primer and never once activated one of the cans. The internet says to strip it all off and start over because it will never cure. I am also seeing posts on the internet that says if it is dry and scuffs then it's okay. I need the truth. It has been almost 6 months since I've sprayed that primer and tonight I went out to sand a little spot and it seems perfectly dry to me. Any advice you guys may have would be so greatly appreciated. Thank you!

Remember it is the foundation of your paint job. Do you want to risk spraying a $1000 worth of paint over that?

Soak a rag in lacquer thinner and try to wipe it off. If the primer color ends up on your rag, you need to strip it.

Everyone has convinced me to start over, while it will be a pain in my pumpkin, I will thank myself later. Does anyone have a good efficient method to removing all of the primer? What product should I use, should I wet sand with coarse grit? Etc.

It's probably sprayed on thin if it was from a rattle can, so you might get away with wiping it off with a towel soaked in lacquer thinner. Use an old paint brush in corners/creases/seams. Once it's all off DA sand with 60 or 80 grit and clean with waterborne W&G.
