I'm just gutted :(

GOOD NEWS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:D:):):):D

Late this evening around sunset I went walking around my place and the surrounding woods and fields. More just trying to figure out what happened than anything else. Got back on my road and started looking to see if his collar was in the ditches on the side of the road. For whatever reason (God:)) I went back a little bit and stopped for a second. As I was getting ready to walk back to the house I heard a muffled whimper. I said Patch? and heard the whimper again. This was at the edge of a field on my property with no trees just a old tobacco barn. Trying to figure out where the noise was coming from I looked down and there he was stuck in a drain pipe, the kind you put down when you make a entrance way to a road from a field driveway etc over a ditch. He was stuck in the drain pipe.:) His head was just barely sticking out the end. I ran to the house (left my cell there) and called a friend with the Vol Fire Department. They broadcast it over the radio (police and fire) and soon two of my neighbors showed up along with the local cop. We were able to dig out in front of the pipe (he went in one end and made it right to the other end before getting stuck. About 15 feet). After a few minutes of digging and repositioning his paws some, he was able to crawl out under his own power and proceeded to jump into the cab of my truck. :) 48 hours he was stuck there and in perfect condition except for a little bit dirty and thirsty.
I just have to say that I give God the Glory for this. He answers prayers. God directed me to him, I have no doubt about that whatsoever. I was moping around and I felt the need to go out and walk around one more time. I never would have thought to look for him there. In my mind it is truly a miracle. Some of you may poo-poo that, that's ok. I am not someone who says something like that lightly or often, but I truly believe he answered my prayers.
Thank you all for the kind words and well wishes. And all of you who were optimistic.....you were right. Like a thousand pound weight has been lifted off me. :)
Amen. God is good!

That border collie I told you about earlier had similar incident. She disappeared and like you I felt the need to go looking for her.
As I called her name I heard a whimper and then saw her trying to get up but unable to. Turned out someone had left a coiled up strand of barbed wire laying on the ground and she had gotten herself wrapped up in it.
Took me a few minutes to get her free but she did the same thing, ran right by me and jumped in the truck.

Truly the best thing I've seen (read) in several days! I am so glad he's OK and back with you. Might be a good time to look at one of those GPS collars?

No better feeling than finding a lost dog, and no worse feeling than losing one. I had a half pit bull, half german shepherd that was my first kid after I got married. That dog did everything with me including go to work. He could literally understand english. :) That dog got run over by a truck when he was 9 months old right in front of me. The front tires ran over his hind end shattering one hip and dislocating the other. The rear tires ran over his head, but all it did was take the hide off. I spent a lot of money I didn't have to get him put back together. After that, it was a run of bad luck for the poor dog. He got heartworms while taking preventative somehow, and I got him treated to get rid of those. Then he got some tumors on his neck that I had removed. A couple years later he got heartworms again. More treatment. The 9 years I had him I was unable to keep him in the yard. He would find a way out no matter what I did. I even put an electric fence along the bottom of the chain link fence and I watched him once get a running start and ram the bottom of the fence, bending it up all the while getting lit up by the electric fence. He was a houdini at getting out. He would be gone sometimes for days at a time, but always came back limping, tired, and skinny. Had me worried sick so many times I can't count. Finally at the end he died of cancer. He was eat up end to end, and I let him suffer longer than I should have before having him put down. Still to this day I get teared up thinking about it. So glad you found him.

Wow, man. read this earlier & was trying to think of something good to say. Just sat down here to suggest taking one of your other dogs on a leash with you as they can smell & hear better. Glad for you you got your kid back.
After going 6 years without dogs, we got brother & sister mini daushund pups a year ago. They stay contained in a small backyard area when out.

I'm planning on one! I'm gonna know where fat boy is from now on. It'll match his neighbor buddy (dog) that has one as well.

Thank you all for the kind words and wishes. he's perfectly fine from what I can tell, I can't stop smiling. Good Lord gave me my boy back.:)

Freakin awesome !!! I was originally going to say "your in my thoughts and prayers" as that's the typical saying, but then I figured you might not be religious and I'm no Bible thumper myself.

But just when you start to question the big guy and wether or not he listens to us and our prayers, he throws you a good one.

Thats the best news I've heard in a while. Especially after you mentioned your neighbor shoots dogs on his property. That man needs to be schooled.

But lets focus on the positive - Patch is back.

PS - I've got two White Shepherd dogs that love to chase after Deer, Rabbits, and Coyotes when we are walking the woods. They both have the Whistle GPS collar, which is probably the best one available - though there are some new ones on the market. I've lost them a few times, but I can track them with the Whistle iPhone app and always find them eventually. Though I live in the city and am afraid they will run onto a road and get hit by a car.

Anyway, Whistle has a new model called the Go Explorer that is a little pricey, but it has great battery life and they are having a black Friday sale.

Chris, remember in the first post you made reference to something like off-topic; in other words, should not be here?
Im impressed with so many people
Related and gave you support, you have a lot of friends here!

None of this is as important as the fact we found the dog!!

Also, when Andy and Wendy got their rescued boxers, I bought the GPS collar for both of the dogs; that was excellent advice someone gave you.
