More Noob questions:

from Perfect Paint Job "mix enough #6600 series epoxy to spray two wet coats over the entire car. Spray
one wet coat and let flash about 30 minutes then apply a second wet coat."

1. Is to 30 min from when you start on first panel of 30 min from when you complete entire car?

2. How do I know how much to mix per coat?

30 minutes is over kill so not that critical, your choice.
Depending on a lot of things but you will be close to one mixed quart per coat.

Is there a spout available that fits the thread on the square gal cans? It would make pouring easier.

Sanded the E-coat on the hood today.

Finally practiced spewing out some epoxy on one of my test panels.

Not dry. Has orange peel. 120psi at the wall 20psi with trigger pulled and
had the wrong tip in the gun 1.8 :whine: shoulda been the 1.4 But happy to be spraying something on something

Found a spout to fit the solvent cans. Makes it really easy to pour!

and the mixing mate worked like a champ pouring out the epoxy.

Did some more epoxy testing today.

The right side was less fluid and smaller pattern.

Left was more of both. Both areas seem good, both have some
fisheyes where I slowed and put too much liquid in one spot.
I am happier with the right side.

Blocked the e-coated hood with 220. Is this course enough for epoxy?

Sometimes holding the gun too close to the panel will cause that effect in the epoxy too. I learned that recently

Ok guys, I'm heading out to mask, wipe down, wipe down, wipe down and epoxy prime
the shell on Jane.

Any last minute tips before I shoot?

I'll check in later before the trigger is pulled.

Only that I wish you had done that back when you first stripped it, when the weather was warm. Keep the METAL over 65°so the product will cure.

I was at 80* and 50% humidity. Thanks.

First Coat of epoxy. Tiger stripping :whine: moving to fast? pattern not wide enough? not sure

Second coat

I was really happy with the second coat.

The next night I played with the gun.Got happy with the pattern.

So I sprayed the 2 coats of 2K!! Happy with it, have some honking runs, but those will block out.

Next is on to sanding down the doors, front clip and the hood.

Try and put the primer on just like you would if you were painting. I find it useful to getting the shape of the car down remembering where the troublesome spots are and how you need to move and angle the gun so when it comes time to paint you should have some muscle memory and it should go smoothly.

No worries on the runs your right they do sand out, just try to remember what you did wrong that caused it and try not to repeat the same movement, we've all been there and done that.

A little tip. Look at and be aware of where your going (with the gun) and not where you are. I look about 6-12" in front of the gun in the direction I'm going only taking quick glances at the pattern hitting the vehicle.

Thanks for the tips, I need all the help I can get.

In the first photos it appears you gun is "pulsing". I am referring to the consistant light dark light dark showing in the full length of each pass of the gun.

I noticed the same thing. What would cause that?
