Least favorite and most favorite parts of body/paint work?

Last night I was mixing and spreading some bondo and it occurred to me that I hate doing this  It is one of my least favorite parts of body/paint work.
I've read all the tips, watched all the videos, I think I am using all the "best known methods."
Still hate it.
I always feel rushed and always want to be finessing the spread when it starts to kick.

Also not a fan of grinding welds. Mr. Murphy seems to ensure that the optimum position and angle of the tool is the one that throws sparks directly back onto the operator. Someday I'll be laying down welds so pretty that I won't want to grind them. That day has not arrived yet. (and of course, butt welds on panels have to be ground down no matter how good they look."

My favorite thing is the final WG wipe down and tack off before painting finish coats. The summit of all the hard work in prep and a time of great hope and expectation.

How about you?

Working to meet a nearly there deadline is not much fun. Favorite part.... all of it. Least favorite part......all of it. :) I enjoy it when something goes according to plan. All to often it doesn't and that's when it is not much fun. I do agree with Don though that media blasting a car is one of the worst things.

Speaking of coil springs, I was working at one Shop and a co-worker next to me was attempting to compress a repaired damaged macpherson strut coil. To reinstall it. He was using one of those cheap dual compressors. Only problem was he was using an impact gun to compress the spring. He turned the one side too much with the gun and the spring shot out passed my head about 6 inches away and lodged in the wall behind me! If it had hit me I would have be done for. God was looking out for me that day. Never use any power tool on those types of compressors. They are very dangerous as you can't mount them in a vise and using a safety chain doesn't work either as it just ties the whole assembly to launch itself if the compressed spring slips.
If you can mount the strut in a vise or something solid it's marginally safer, but the best thing is to pay someone who has a proper compressor to remove or install it.

My favorite part is after multiple do overs to get paint where you want it to finally be able to live with it, spray the final coat and it goes on great, then on the drive home thinking it's done and it looks great ...that drive home is my favorite part.

Lol. Something about the way 180 cuts down spi high build and Mirka dry guide coat is satisfying....kind of like mowing green grass. Weirdo I know
Of course I totally get that! Especially if you put enough high build on to start with and it's all blocking out with one step.

Right now I am doing metal work on a severely damaged hood. I consider myself a man of very few skills.....Metal work is definitely not one of them! So as of last night, I hate metal work the most!
