"Lint Free" wipes?

E

edp

Is there such a thing? I'm going to paint some stuff again, a dash in SEM Hot Rod black & some side marker light bezels in matching base/clear for my satellite & I'd like to try a different towel for a W & G wipe. I've been using the Scott blue towels with pretty good success on the stuff I've painted but especially with the satin black getting it right the first time is pretty important.

One local jobber has the Dupont Sontara towels for around $11 / bag - they say "virtually lint free", does any company promote "lint free" towels?

I do a tack cloth wipe prior to shooting as well.

Thanks, evan

I use the Krew 600 towels for W&G removal and save the Scott Blue towels for general clean up.
Crystal Premium Tack rags are what my jobber stocks and I like them a lot.

They might say "lint free"...but realistically they are "virtually lint free"

I use the blue "prep all" rags. Those sontara are nice also.

Always tack.

I used the words "lint free" at the jobber once and got a funny look. I think there is no such thing; the good wipes are "very low lint" or as jeremy said "virtually lint free." The Sontara wipes are nice, but I also usually use the Krew ones.

thanks guys. The Krew 600's are the "prep all" ones then? Any good place on the web to pick them up?

I assume the mfg-ers dont want to commit to anything by saying free vs. virtually for liability sakes even if there was such a thing as lint free. Mainly i just want to avoid trash in the single stage dash paint & I so use the Crystal tack clothes as well.

Thx. Evan

My jobber carries them. The price is about the same as finding them on sale and having them shipped.
I use the regular blue shop towels for everything else and the Krew 600s only for final cleaning before paint.

I'm bringing up an old thread to see if anyone else has recommendations. I've been using Tork towels currently since I can get them through work, but they are leaving more lint than I like.

Does anyone use other towels than what this thread has recommended, or is most everyone still using Krew 600?

I use Kimberly Clark L40 wipes for wax and grease remover. Crystal tack cloths and surgical blue tack after base

Just talked to Kimberly Clark, they said their Wypall series is their low lint product and the higher the number the more resistant it is to falling apart.

Wypall are pretty good. Uline has a blue towel like Wypall that has alot more of a quilted appearance. Those hold alot more of your solution in the towel and give some low spots for dirt to hide in and still a clean top surface to wipe in. They have a big roll, its about a foot around, sometimes have a dispenser free if you buy two rolls. http://www.uline.com/Product/ProductDetailRootItem.Aspx?modelnumber=S-13631

free dispenser with the kimberly clark ones.

those scott shop towels are the ones that fall apart and powder.

Just a quick update, after speaking with Tork it appears that all of their low-lint cleaning cloths are turquoise in color. Since I can get these through my warehouse and I already have the dispensers I'm going to try a pack of these and see what I think.

I forgot about this thread, forget the uline brand now, the last two mega rolls we had ended up with plenty of fuzzies, we are back with Wypall.
