Mipa base coat

I have been curious to try this Mipa base coat (From Germany), but I do not know much about it. Has anyone here used it, or know anything about it? A guy I talked to who does use it said the color matches are great, and it's 80.00 for any color per quart. It mixes 2:1, and he says he likes it better than Diamont, and thought it was similar to Glasurite base coat.

I just went another round trying to find paint a customer is using in Australia. There is absolutely no chemistry that is not RoHS compliant anywhere in Europe and now I learn Australia. The US is just catching up. My money is always on the clear protecting your basecoat.

Never heard of it. If Jim chimes in and says the same thing forget it and look for something else..

a crappy base of any type makes for a crappy job, period.

Sounds familiar but thats as far as my knowledge goes. Maybe its the hottest thing in germany, who knows

From what i am being told it is suppose to be good stuff, like all their other products. I was told they have been importing it into this country for at least 20 years, already. The two guys I have had discussions with swear by it. I would like to find out more info.

I used to buy some Mipa black base coat from a wagon peddler that toured our area for a while. It worked well. I have not seen Mipa in my area in 8 or so years.

I liked Mipa. I looked back and the wagon peddler used to carry it 14-16 years ago. He just had primary colors and not a mixing system. I have been looking at Motobase, but I spoke to a east coast distributor and he says mipa has finally got it distribution act together in the US. I'm meeting with him Monday. It's a 2:1 polyester base coat.
