Need "GOOD" casters for rotisserie

I'm looking for advice in a set of good casters. The rotisserie i have came with 3 inch casters that lasted 1 job. Then I replaced them with 3 inch solid steel casters. Sounded good, but any small pebble or rock would hang them up. Then I replaced with 4 inch polyurethane. Which are "ok" but sitting outside has weathered the bearings now they don't rotate very good. I want to buy 1 more set of casters and have them last long time. Any suggestions?? Solid rubber? Pneumatic?

mine is so heavy i have gone to steel wheels . had rubber wheels but they will flat spot after a while . the steel wheels roll great compared to the rubber . these are the rubber wheels.

Here’s the “build” pictures on my rotisserie, there is a parts list in there that the accessories were primarily ordered from McMaster Carr, so readily available. It’s seen many trailer rides and is still doing well, using 6” casters. They like a concrete floor best, but it has been rolled across gravel driveway, grass at a car show, etc. The 6” diameter helps it to keep going for the occasional pebble that sneaks into the shop floor.

I went with these for my harbor freight rotisserie job. Welded them on. They were good enough to roll on to a flat bed and take to dustless blast.

They also sell fat tires at harbor freight that I would consider as well.

I end up ordering some 6 inch casters. They are rubber. Look all terrain. I'll report back. But they already arrived. And are pretty sturdy looking. It will be this weekends project

I am going to have to build me one of these before I start back on my GTX
At the time, the cr3000 (on ebay) was the cheapest rotisserie out there. I got it for 900. It's okay. It gets the job done. Could build one for half. The wheels is the only thing I never liked. But with 6 inches now I think it will improve. I do plan on building a body cart because I want to block my car with the front clip on

Yikes! Have you guys priced steel lately?

2.5" x 2.5" x .188 tubing is over $15 a foot. o_O
3" schedule 80 black pipe is close to $25 a foot.

Those rotisseries on eBay are looking like a real good deal about now.

It's been crazy for the last year or so. I built a rotisserie this past summer. 24 ft length of 2 1/2 square tube 3/16 wall was $270. Three years ago same size was $85 or so. Sheet steel has tripled in cost as well. Sheet of 20 ga. 4x10 was around $67-$70, less than three years ago. Now it's $240+. With my rotisserie, I had over $850 in materials not counting some square tubing and other stuff I already had on hand.
If you can find a metal place that recycles and sells scrap you can save some. I drove an hour and half to Durham NC to get some used pipe for the rotisserie because my metal place wouln't sell me pipe cut to size, like they used to. I should have bought all the material at that place as I could have saved $300 or so.

i remember no gas at any price , 16.9% mortage rates and the world laughing at us . jimmy started the housing bubble by allowing folks to get loans who had 0 credit or worse . a good friend of mine lost his home because of the ARM's back then . all i can say is get your gardens ready and build a chicken coop . stock up on staples . we will survive it again . it took a carter to give us a reagan .

thankfully i got the roof done before the price increase . medal building supplies have gone skyrocketing . a good friend builds tube chassis and stuff , he said it has cut his business in half . concrete is 7 bucks a ft now . just did 8 loads of road base and it cost me 2k . tuff times coming .

So I got the casters. Here's the story. I went to tractor supply and northern tool and a single 6 inch caster that looked beefy enuff was $29 plus tax of course. And they didn't have 8 matching.....so...hopped on Amazon. Set of 4 6inch for 79. So I bought 8...160 bucks. When I went to check out got a promotion. Apply for a visa Amazon card save 150 off this purchase. Sounds like a scam so I asked my wife and she confirmed it was legit. So why not. I applied. Got the set of 8 casters for 20 dollars. When the bill is due I'll pay them the 20 and close the account. The wheels arrived the next day. Got them welded yesterday along with a center support.....work great so far. Really impressed with the 20 dollar deal.
