New Arrow filter/desiccant system for paint booth

My air distribution and filtering system needed to be upgraded.
There was an earlier thread from Chris Hamilton about the Arrow desiccant canister and that was very helpful.

I ended up re-doing my whole system.

3/4 inch PEX straight from the compressor to the paint booth and then put in the Arrow 5-stage system, which included the desiccant canister.

1/2 inch Flexilla hose, with Flexilla 3/8 inch NTP, high flow connectors.

That ought to get clean, dry air at max CFM to the gun!

Yeah, a 36 inch drip leg is excessive, but I wanted to get it close to the ground so I could bleed off most of the pressure and then catch the water in a bucket rather than making a mess . . .

I tee'd a leg off of the 3/4 inch PEX to a separate area of the shop, for pneumatic tools. That leg has it's own simpler filter/water trap/regulator.

We'll see how it works!

Shine, you always have a better idea. I tell young guys all the time to slow down and listen to some of these older fellows that have been around and learn. I also say never fire a lazy guy, give him a hard job and watch him find an easy way to do it.

My old unit sprung another leak today. Tired of fixing it. I think I may get off my wallet for this unit this weekend.
I've been happy with it. Shot a lot of paint through it with no issues.
Only had to dry the dessicant once in several months, here in the Northwest.
Did it in the oven in the house, did NOT make my wife happy . . .

Just an FYI/Heads Up for everyone. The one I purchased in the sticky thread broke down this week. The threaded end at the bottom of the brass tube assy cracked. Allowing it to leak at the base in the middle. I have tried to find replacement parts without sucess. You can find replacements for the inner filter on the tube, but not the tube itself. I searched Arrow's website and found some contact info for help. Emailed and waiting to hear back. Very disappointing that it did not last longer than it did.

Dean, that looks like a real good dryer setup. The only thing I am wondering is, I hope you don't have a sharp metal edge on that wheel that might cut into the hose as you pull to unreel the hose to use. Just a thought. I can't see it but maybe you already have some kind of rubber liner there to protect the hose.

My system looks exactly like the one pictured. The arrow...but its labeled max air. I like it. I got it online on usa weld. Or us weld. The regulator did leak a little air so I replaced it. Because the noise. Bothered me. Other than that I get pretty good results for a backyard hack

Baseball fees just rolled in.....looks like Ill have to revisit this thread at a later date and pick up some jb weld.....

Ya, 2 boys. 17 & 15.....what a wallet drag. But the the oldest is well on his way to college ball so its not all worthless I guess.

I owe my youngest a corvette or something for not playing sports, lol

i dont know much about Hockey, but I do know that travel baseball is a giant money grab..

Yeah buddy. We did travel ball around age 12-13. Mine plays high-school ball now. Graduates in 4 months I used to have a cage in my shop on a pulley system. It was fun

We built a cage in April of 2020 when covid hit. I was cringing the entire time but I tell you, its used every day when the net is up. So I dont regret it at all. And I've had alot of great convos with my oldest as he turns into a young man while he does tee work.

Travel ball kind of took over my area so my boys have both been playing it since they each started at 8 years old. My oldest will be 18 in may and its coming to a close. I wont be able to watch every game when he goes away to college so as much as I hate opening my wallet ill probably be sad when its all done.

It's an expensive sport. All the cool kids have 400 dollar bats, and 250 dollar gloves we had a massive out door cage and a double Jugs machine. It was fun but the machines mess with the timing. It would go up to 105 mph...we kept it around 60mph it threw a wicked curve ball. Then we built the cage inside. It was fun. We had 100 balls I'd load the tee or soft toss from behind the screen. An indoor batting cage in your backyard...what else could a kid want......other than a cell phone.
