New to the site - 1968 Firebird

I’m happy with were it’s at, but like you said, light grey doesn’t show much. I’ll take your advice and block sand the whole car with a guide coat once I take care of the fender. Can I not go straight to sealer from the blocked 2k if I take it from 180 to 400?
Sure can, if everything blocks out without going through to filler anywhere. After 180, I would apply guide coat again to make sure those scratches are completely gone. Going from 180 straight to 400 is a pretty big jump, but it can be done. I usually go to 320 first, then finish with 400-600, depending on color.

Thanks! On your finish sanding (400-600) before the epoxy sealer coat, is that a dry or wet sand? Also, what does color have to do with the grit of paper that you finish with? Sorry for the incessant questions!

I just wet sand by hand as a final. Finishing with 400 is fine with solid colors, but can cause issues of sand scratches showing with some metallics, especially the lighter ones like silver. In your case I would just finish with 400, then seal.
 
Once you have it blocked straight and wet sanded my guess is it will take two coats of the white epoxy to get a consistent coverage

Do you think 1 gallon will be enough to cover light grey/medium grey 2k primer with 2-3 sealer coats of white? I have no experience with how far automotive paint can go. Thanks.
 
SPI epoxy mixes 1:1 with activator/hardener so you will have two gallons unreduced. That will be plenty for the Firebird.
The grey primer should cover fairly easy as well. Just don't try to get full coverage with the white epoxy on the first coat or you will end up with fisheyes and runs (ask me how I know). Spray it like a base coat and plan on more than one coat to cover.
