I'm doing my jambs today. I figured it was a good place to start since the area will be less noticeable if I mess up. I'm still learning...
After shooting reduced SPI epoxy and letting it sit for 6 hours, I saw some dust nibs. I wet sanded one area with 600-1000 to get rid of the nibs. It seemed to work very well. I think I'll plan to lightly wet sand the sealer coat when I shoot the rest of the body.
Then I shot the base and noticed a few dust nibs here and there. The "Perfect Paint Job" instructions says I can wet sand with 800-1500 and then re-coat and wait overnight again. My concern with this is that I'm just as likely to get nibs in the base after the re-coat and end up back in the same spot. Not to mention using up more material.
Here is my question... Can I take care of the dust nibs after doing the clear? I'm expecting that I'll have to denib the clear. And I'm also planning to cut and buff. So I figure that doing all that in the clear would also take care of any dust nibs that were in the base. Does that sound right to you?
I have the same question with orange peel in the base... if I'm going to cut and buff the clear, wouldn't that take care of any orange peel that existed in the base?
Thanks,
Sal
