Original Finish Preservation

Hi gang! Newbie to the forum here seeking some recommendations or thoughts. I recently bought a 1928 Ford Pickup with a wooden bed. The truck has a very nice patina with regards to the old finish, thin paint with primer showing in a few area, some light surface rust, etc. It was a farm truck that has text and insignias on it that are very cool as well. My plan is to simply preserve and protect the existing patina and finish. Obviously, I can't do any serious sanding on it or I'll remove the finish so I was planning on very lightly scuffing with gray scotchbrite. My plan is to do a three-step cleaning process: remove any mold/mildew, clean with wax/grease remover, then clean with an alcohol-based cleaner. I'm kind of lost as to what might be best to apply to "seal" the existing finish. I'm thinking that a few coats of a matte finish urethane clear might be best, or does SPI offer a specific product/special sealer for people seeking to do this? Also, would you recommend an adhesion promoter due to the fact that only limited sanding can be done on the existing finish. I know it's not going to look perfect, and I don't want it to. I just want to "lock in" the beauty it has right now. My former experience is 10 years working in auto-body and painting but that ended in 1994, so I've been out of the business for quite some time and I'm not up on the latest standards and products. Thanks for any help you guys might can offer! Jim

I used SPI matte clear. Never occurred to me to use adpro. Probably a good idea.
