Paint Lid Mixers

just goto your local jobber. they give me mine for free but since you probably dont have a system then they will charge you but they are far cheaper than that one you posted. dedoes is the big mixer company that makes them. i just got some qt ones last week and the retail on them was a hair under 8 bucks ea. obviously gallons would be more. they do work great. you can pull the gear off the top of the shaft and use a cordless drill with it.

I see Jim beat me to it:)....but I'll post anyways.:)

Check with your local automotive refinish jobber. They always have them in stock both for quarts and gallons and they are not expensive. Under $20 for a gallon one. Sometimes cheaper than that. My jobber sells them to me for 11 bucks each.

Here is a google link to ones like I'm talking about.

Thank you both for the information. I'm glad I asked because now I know there is another option out there that appears to be an industry standard. After checking out Chris's link, I see that Dedoes does not use a cam lock style lid. I take it they did at one time? I will be purchasing 1 gallon mixing/pouring/storage lids for SPI Epoxy and High Build primers.

I'm a little concerned there is no locking cam for the lids but, they are the professionals, so I guess they are not a problem when pouring.

Jim,
Thank you. Do you happen to know if the pour spout slider tounge can be disassembled for cleaning? Looking at there website, it appears new gaskets can be purchased.

Mike,

yes it can come off but honestly thats not the part that ever gets loaded up. i have some lids on my rack that are 15 years old and have never been cleaned. they just dont need it. what get gobbed up is just outside the spout. the paint or epoxy builds up. if your not a daily user then maybe once a year or 6 mos you just scrape it off. after i pour i always have a rag on my mixing bench and i give the spout a quick swipe to wipe off any drip. you will never need a new gasket either. by the time you need a new gasket that thing will be trashed and thats pretty much where you should put it at that point. they are cheap, just buy a new one. all mine have been on my rack since 2007 and still no need to replace them. the lids last for years.

^^^ thank you brother ;)....off to my local jobber tomorrow to see if they have them.
