Painting Kitchen Cabinets

I need to paint some custom cabinets. They are new poplar wood. The color will be white. I would like to do a nice job and for these to last a long time - so I'm thinking of using white epoxy, SPI base and clear.

Is there a product at Lowes (or similar) that I should consider?

If I go the SPI route, I will need some advice on how to accomplish a semi-gloss finish.

I just finished painting my cabinets, Jim C told me he uses SPI 2k primer and the Conversion Varnish. I used Axalta Ultraguard Conversion Varnish. Used a 1.8 nozzle with the Varnish and 2.3 with the 2k primer. My cabinets were old satained and poly finished, had to sand and fill voids in edges with plastic wood as they were made with 3/4 Birch plywood many years ago. https://www.hghhardware.com/2334869/Product/Axalta-AUW4812.007 I used Satin but they have a semi gloss also.. I used 4 gallons on both sides of my Kitchen.

absolutely, conversion varnish is the only way to go. much more productive and fool proof for cabinetry. axalta does have conversion primer as well to go under it but white spi 2k primer/sealer sands a little nicer and is only a hair more expensive. either one will work fine. the conversion primer is actually more expensive than the topcoat...go figure. i use axalta here which was originally valspar.
