PPG DU5 substitute

Trying to use up some PPG DCC on an old trailer but I think I may run short on DU5. I was going to buy some but nearly spit out my teeth when I saw the price. Is there a cheaper hardener I can use? I was just trying to use up some old paint but wow maybe not.

From memory I think DCX61 is intechangeable with DU5. It doesn't flow out as well as DU5 so maybe add a little reducer to compensate.

If you do use DCX61 make sure to look up the DCC TDS as it has a different mix ratio than DU5 or DU6. One of them is 4:2:1 the other is 4:1:2 IIRC. Can't remember which is which though. As for other activators that would work, maybe SPI production clear activator. I would check with Barry as he would be able to give a much more definitive answer than any of us here on the forum.

Ya like I said it's just an old junk trailer I was trying to use up old paint on. Maybe that would work??

Matrix MH-005 and MH-006 are said to work with DU5 and DU6. Same with ****$***** HH61 for DCX61.

Oops, looks like I said a bad word. Just google hh61 activator. I’d prob just use the matrix MH 5 or 6 so your not playing with ratios.
