Prep for bedliner

I was hoping for advice on using bedliner or undercoating on a car with a nasty old undercoating. I have used a heat gun to make the undercoating pliable so can scrap it down so I can then reapply undercoating in wheel wells and undercarriage. Do I have remove 100% or can I get it cleaned up enough to reapply the Coating? What cleaning sequence and products should I use prior to spraying?
Thanks for any suggestions.

Wow, that's unlikely the bed will last over the rubber undercoat.
The best bet would be to buy a paintable spray undercoating, and it will stick.
The difference between cheap and good is the amount of butyl rubber added, so spend a few extra dollars per can.

I agree with Barry, unless you can get ALL the old coating off, then reapply some rubberized. I Clean with Dawn first, then waterborne cleaner. It seems to work well and not put solvents back into the old soft undercoating that you don't get off.
