Prime/seal/paint question

Working on a project that I’m taking down to metal and start with epoxy primer, then 2k , block etc
I need to get the weatherstrip channels painted so i can install weatherstripping as the car sits outside. My thought process was after those areas are sanded properly and ready for epoxy, can I epoxy over bare metal, let flash then base/clear those areas? Also thought about cutting in the decklid same way. Lastly, if I need to reduce the epoxy, what should I use?
Thanks in advance

Yes, you can do that, it just gets hard to protect areas like that against overspray since they are getting done so far ahead of the rest of the vehicle. If you want to use epoxy as a sealer, it's best to use SPI reducer, most likely 870 or 885 depending on temps.
