Reduced Epoxy Over Epoxy

Hello,

Is it acceptable to spray reduced epoxy sealer over epoxy primer to get a better surface for base coat? I am just wondering in case the epoxy isn't as nice and flat as I would like.

Thanks,

Jason

If you are talking about unreduced epoxy sprayed over bare metal, such as engine bay or what ever, then unreduced is required. It can be coated with reduced epoxy within the recoat window, and if its longer than that, just sand it before spraying.

Thanks for the response. Yes that's exactly what I'm talking about

I am going to do the 2 wet coats of unreduced epoxy over my engine bay which has been sand blasted down to bare metal. Then I was just wondering if it doesn't lay down as flat as I'd like if I could just spray a reduced coat to try and get it ready for base coat.

Cool. Any tips on adjusting the gun properly? I have a Devilbiss FLG3 with a 1.5mm tip that I will use for it.
