Removing divots

M

ML504

I just finished spraying 3 coats of uv clear and today lightly Began sanding with 2000. There are several of these “divots” that looks like was trash in the actual base coat but got knocked out when sanding. I’m scared to sand too much as right now the clear still covers them, but you can definitely still see the outline as shown in the picture. Is there anyway to fix this, should I sand deeper? Thanks for any advice.

I've always taken a toothpick with some clear and filled them in, pretty sure its solvent pop.....I will say one thing and I sure hope I dont get flamed for it, but I have only had that happen with UV clear. With Euro I never have that issue.

Thanks. I did a little more sanding and they got better, I’m just scared of burning through the clear. I have 3 coats of UV and am wetsanding with 2000....is there a guide or idea of just how much sanding or applied pressure I would need before I burn through? This is my first time doing this so I’m learning each step of the way and really do not want to have to redo a panel. Thanks for the replies.

I would rather see you fill them in before sanding any more. Even if they come completely out, how much clear did you remove to get them out? Is there still at least 2 mils left for longevity? It is not just burning through to the base, but how much clear is left after sanding and buffing that matters.

I think I may have worded the title wrong. This picture is showing what they look like when sanded down slightly. I would be glad to try and fill them in, however the ring around where the trash was I’m not able to reach with sanding unless going down further. Can I still add clear on top of that? Everything was sprayed last week. Thanks again.

That is a much better picture. The other picture looked like holes. That is normal when sanding out a piece of trash, Are you sanding with some type of block? That should come out easily with just a little more sanding.
