removing paint from rubber

I would like to remove some of the over spray on the rubber door "accordion boots," that is the flexible rubber in the door jams that carry the power window wires and door lock wires. The boot is located in the inner door jam, between upper and lower door hinges. The car was carelessly painted years ago, and I"m redoing it, what is the best method of removing old overspray from these rubber boots. I don't believe new ones are available. The car is a 79 trans am. thanks guys.

I have removed various rubber parts over the years and then removed paint from them with methyl chloride paint remover with no adverse effects.

I use carburetor or brake cleaner on a rag, followed by armor all or any rubber protectant. Spray it on the rag ,not the part.
