When preping bare metal for SPI Epoxy, is a course or medium rolock scotch brite equivelent to an 80 grit sanding rolock disk? Any good sources for buying rolock disks at a good price?
Roloc Scotchbrite discs seem to sometimes leave a residue, and the ones I have used are too fine to give good tooth. You can use them, but have to go over with 80DA to put the right scratch back into the metal.
No they are for cleaning gasket material off engine blocks and will buff the metal.
I use both the 80 and 24 roloc grinding discs.
But in the blue stripper brand.
I do have a spot blaster but when we have so much rain and cold weather I hate to use it inside my shop. I guess its probably not a whole lost worse than grinding dust. Maybe have to change my mind set. Fricking weather here in Montana is like a tropical rain forest.
Well, even if you go at it with a rotary tool with a clean'n'strip or the like, just come back and give it a quick brush over with a spot blaster, and that will give it perfect profile for epoxy.
