sand throughs

I have a couple sand throughs on my regular 2K primer. Should I apply more 2K and sand that before epoxy sealer or use epoxy and wet sand that area before sealer? Planning on base tomorrow.

2K over bare metal is not good practice in restoration work.

Are you using a DTM build primer?

I sealed bare spots with SPI epoxy. Wet sanded next day and then sealed rest of the body with epoxy.

Generally what I do is block sand the build primer until I start seeing epoxy.

Then shoot 2-3 more coats of build primer, guide coat and block sand again just to remove the guide coat. If it all looks good I guide coat again and wet sand with 600 on soft block if going strait to base coat. 400 if using a sealer.

What kind of paint do you use for guide coat? Will cheap rattle can paint work?

I always used a cheap can of spray paint and it works BUT after using the powder(dry guide coat) I’ll never go back to spray paint- so much better !
