Barry,

What is this stuff? Clear lacquer with a hint of acid in it?

I've been looking for something to brush on stock-type front end hardware, because after the socket's been on it and torqued, there is always a spot or two that wants to start rusting a year down the road.

It might be good for some other stuff, too, if it is actually worth a darn.

Has there been any further testing on the adhesion promoter, for off-label uses?

There is nothing in the MSDS sheet except to everyday solvents, I saw nothing about an acid, or anything the would indicate a resin at all.

The blurb reads like a basic of basic paper.
I have no idea.

A friend of mine bought an aluminum boat some years ago and the boat manufacturer ( HewesCraft) recommended this product. He used it and the boat would stay looking like new for a couple years at a time.

Crash, something to try: use a six point socket with a thin piece of plastic to save your coating, a sandwich baggie or similar. Wipe the bolts down the Remoil or similar after they are installed also helps.

Bob, I have found that rust will weep from under the bolt head where it rubs against the washer. This must be oiled up on a regular basis, something that I can't do for people.

I did talk to a guy once about something he called "black stainless." I thought they were made black by the same process as the regular steel bolts that are Parkerized, but as it turns out, stainless can't be Parkerized, so I don't know how they do it.

I know I want to switch. The bolts I use now look correct, but later on they look like crap!
