Spraying SPI black epoxy

I finally Epoxy'd my floorpan and I'm really pleased with how it turned out. Since I'm a complete rookie, I spoke with Barry and he advised to set my HF HVLP gun with the pattern at 90% with 26-28psi- at the gun. I held the gun about 6" off the pan while spraying. I did that and the finish is almost completely smooth with very light orange peel or texture (cottage cheese thighs). It feels pretty smooth but you can see a little something if you play with the angle of the light. Anyways, I used approx. 20oz of sprayable material to cover one side of the pan. The pan measures about 48" X 48". The epoxy covered great with no runs and dried quick (In the 70's/ sunny in my backyard) but I'm wondering if it was a tad too thick. I tested my pattern on a piece of masking paper and it looked good- but maybe a bit heavy overall (1.4 tip). It pretty much covered my bare sandblasted pan in one coat. I'm just wondering if I could have backed down on the fluid adjustment a bit to conserve some paint or kicked up my speed a bit. I've never sprayed epoxy before so I just don't really know the coverage characteristics of the material I sprayed. I once heard Kevin Tetz say that he figures about 7oz. of sprayable material per each panel- I dunno what panel size he bases this off of. Thanks guys. Mitch.

Mitch, If your asking me, you asked the wrong person, to me the epoxy can never be to thick, within reason unlike other products.

If it looks good, you know you have great protection.

Thanks Barry. I just want to make sure I'm not getting off track.
