Storing Paper Paint Strainers

S

Senile Old Fart

I like to keep my paint strainers stored so they are not out of round and will set nicely in the strainer stand.
I tried a number of ways over the years and came upon a method that works exceptionaly well.

I purchased 2 plastic funnels then cut the small ends off the cones.
I glued the 1st funnel's rim to a piece of wood.
I set the strainers on this funnel, then set the second funnel onto the paint strainers.
Now they stay nice and round and keep an anal old fart like me happy.

Great idea. Last set of funnels I picked up were weird udder-shaped things. I'll have to keep an eye out for some cone-shaped ones 'cause this anal old farts likes this kind of stuff. The big nylon funnel and I have been together for decades but my wife doesn't get along with it -- she calls it nasty.

take a look at that paper funnel . you will be amazed how much fuzz and lint is on it. 3m ultra strainers are worth every penny.

I have never heard of a 3M strainer , What is the part number, Thanks.

I have a set of those (red, white and blue) I picked up from Eastwood. They sell singles for $17 or all three plus a gun stand for $40. The pro shops seem to sell 5-packs for $80 or so. Here's the link to the Eastwood set:

I use the ss mesh filters for my Iwata and SPI products but have the paper filters to get the big chunks out of old primer or engine and chassis paint shot through the Devilbiss Finishline guns.
