Stripping paint

Well thanks again guys for the info, I guess I'll just get the eastwoods media blaster/w acrylic instead of the soda. I think its like $100 cheaper too. And once its clean metal it should have 2 coats of epoxy sealer asap correct? BTW what is the difference/benefits of the epoxy sealer vs the 2K primer?

Use the acrylic for stripping the paint, then change to sand or any 80 grit abrasive and do your jambs. Sand the exterior with a da sander and 80 grit, then clean well with waterborne wax and grease remover and spray 2 wet coats of epoxy primer. Epoxy needs a texture to bond to and sandblasting is great or sanding with 80 also works. The acrylic won't leave any texture but does a nice job of removing paint. Make sure you wear good body and respiratory proection with all media. Epoxy is the best foundation you can get, SPI has the best IMO

i use a 8" soft pad
i try to remove most of the filler and primer with 36 grit, when im almost all the way through, i follow with 80 grit on the soft pad and finish with 80 grit on a DA

for those that chemically strip...... if one sandblasts the inside of a fender and accidently gets some chemical stripper on a sandblasted surface, whats the best way to treat this before epoxy????? i was thinking 80 grit by hand????

Just wash it good with Dawn dish washing soap and water being sure to rinse well.

Does anyone have good or bad things to say about those media blasters that you attach to a pressure washer?
