Sunmight vs. Eagle

I did a little experimenting Friday on a complete Civic hatchback painted Tuesday with 3 coats of Euro. It came out very nice and slick with virtually no trash. Came in Wednesday and noticed a very small amount of solvent pop on the top panels. Never had Euro do this. Started to sand the whole car and reclear, but sanded half the hood with 1200 Sunmight finishing film on a da dry and it came out immediately. I finished sanding the hood and roof with 1200 and was planning to sand the hood, roof and sides with 1500 but realized I was out of Eagle tolex and peach assilex. Had 5 sheets of Sunmight 1500 from the sample packs and used those dry on the sides, not leaving myself any to go over the 1200 on the roof and hood. Decided to let it sit until Friday. Friday morning I tried something unconventional. I used a 3000 Sunmight foam pad on half the hood and buffed with a wool pad and 3D aca500. To my surprise, if buffed out great. I turned out the lights and went over it with a sun gun and could not find one sign of 1200 sand scratches or any pigtails. Sanded the rest of the car with the 3000 (used 2 pads, 1 on the hood and roof, and 1 on both sides) and buffed the rest of the car. Polished the car with 520 on a CG black foam pad and was finished by 2PM. Turned off the lights again and checked with a 4 ft. LED light and the sun gun. Opened the door and checked in sunlight. Not 1 single pigtail or scratch to be found! Went to order more peach assilex today and it is about $50 for a box of 25. The Sunmight finishing film is about $30 for a box of 50. I ordered the Sunmight as there is very little, if any, difference in performance, IMO. I also think, as I have used both quite a bit now, that the Sunmight foam is just as good as the 3m trizact. At first impression, I didn't think it lasted as long as the 3m, but now I believe they are about equal, and the Sunmight is a little bit cheaper. These are just observations, and your results may vary :)

I've used sunmight abrasives a lot and have observed the same as you. Only gripe is I have to order online and ship the stuff. No local suppliers.

One of the reasons I like the Sunmight is I luckily have 2 jobbers that carry it in case I forget to order when I use the last piece. Of course, half the time they don't have the grit I need. :) https://www.amazon.com/Sunmight-01422-1500-Grit-Film/dp/B019IA02JG/ref=sr_1_7?crid=1GOO8ZVYRI1XM&dchild=1&keywords=sunmight+1500+grit&qid=1606693078&sprefix=sunmight+1500+grit,aps,187&sr=8-7 This seller on ebay has everything and great service. https://www.ebay.com/itm/Sunmight-9...035339&hash=item3617fa9620:g:oKAAAOSwfpBadOws
