View attachment 4945 80 gal 17cfm Quincy 150psi at wall.
View attachment 4946 30 gal Harbor Freight 7cfm 150 psi.

Same gun, same settings. Spraying at 29 psi.

I get better results with the Harbor Freight tank.

The Quincy looks likes the pattern is split.

Any ideas why this might be happening?
 
as long as you have the same psi and airflow at the hose end that connects to your gun it really doesnt make a difference what is making that air. check your air psi isnt dropping as the volume runs out of the tank on the hf. obviously this would result in less airflow at the hose end.
 
The HF is the good pattern one. I somehow double posted this. Did you click on the "view" to see the pictures?
 
yes, what i mean is that you may need to reduce air flow if its blowing out in the center. if psi and flow is the same it wont make any difference on the gun end. since you obviously have a difference then that isnt the case. what i am getting at is one is producing more airflow than the other. could be for many reasons. the hf isnt holding the psi, plumbing fittings on the compressor or tank arent the same I.D., etc.
