Testing gun

The first time I'm using a gun I'm getting ready to prime a bumper and paint it.
I understand the basics a little bit of how to use it but I want to practice. I plan on practicing on cardboard or something like that but I only bought enough car paint so I could use it.

I have some paint I use for the house is there anyway I could practice with that paint just going over flat surfaces on cardboard to get my settings right. or do you guys have any other ideas I could use to practice for a few hours?

House paint on cardboard won't do you any good. Settings would be different and the cardboard won't show what it would look like on a bumper. You would need to spray a similar base coat and clear on a similar panel to dial it in. With specifics on gun, base, and clear, recommendations could be made on settings to get you close.
