Treating Metal after Sandblasting

Hi,

I’m new to the forum and wet behind the ears when it comes to the process of corrosion protection, primers, and paint. I’ve read quite a few threads and have not found what I’m looking for yet.

My car just got back from sandblasting and I’m wondering if I need to get SPI epoxy primer on the car right away, or if I’m able to do the metal repairs such as panel replacements, adding mini tubs, and general rust patches and then spray epoxy primer once I have accomplished those tasks. Any help is greatly appreciated.

people recommend getting epoxy on right away. Just consider you might have days before it is cured enough to be cutting and welding.
To me it depends where it is. I have a 36 Chevy Coupe that I got cheap because someone in florida sandblasted it completely, then it sat out in a hurricane. So depends alot on your building and time frame. If it does not flash rust you can get some work done, but most experts here would tell you to get epoxy on it as soon as it gets back.

We just read threads that epoxy is not hard for a week, so consider that.
