Vaper 2.3

Hi, I just received my Vaper 2.3 for spraying primers. After unpackaging it I noticed a large amount of Oil/ grease on the gun (I assume from manufacturing). I decided to take it apart to clean it but when removing the nozzle the entire brass section came out of the gun housing. It was epoxied in place as there is a lot of the epoxy still on the threads. So now I am wondering if the nozzle was ever intended to be removed for cleaning. Anyone with a Vaper 2.3 that has removed the nozzle?

Yes, it needs to come apart for cleaning.
Every time I use mine it gets taken apart and cleaned. Some times paint can get left in places that only disassembly will remedy.

So I assume the one I purchased is defective? As the nozzle will unscrew but it removes brass section that goes in to the spray gun housing when unscrewed.

I'd take it back. I don't think there should be JB Weld in a new gun. Or, maybe that's how it's done at that price point, but it should not have come apart how it did.

No , not defective. There are three sections to it. The cap, the nozzle then the brass "washer".that the nozzle screws into that screws into the gun. If the nozzle and "brass washer" come out together then the nozzle is too tight in the brass section.

Upon further inspection the brass fitting that screws into the gun housing let loose before the nozzle did. It definitely has some type of glue or lock tight on the threads. But the brass fitting does have a hex wrench area so I should be able to remove the nozzle at this point. Thanks for the replies.
Mike

keep in mind these are 45 dollar guns . dont get soaked on one .
EDIT: Never mind, I found it for $55
Their not $45 anymore. They're up to $76 now. I'm debating if it is worth it at that price.

@OP:
The HF Purple gun is the same way, but you get the adventure of grinding down a cheap 19mm wrench to get them apart because the gun wrench is not included for the $15 price. If the Vaper gun uses the same assembly glue as the HF gun, getting it all out will be yet another adventure.

I figured that out with a cheap gun that I bought from the autobody supply store, I needed to get the nozzle off to clean behind it but man was it tight. Asked my supply guy he said yea it has to come off I guess, so with his blessing I clamped the gun in a vice and with a good 6pt box end wrench I bore down til it broke free. Was definitely glued in with some form of locktite, paint flows behind it to get to the nozzle so it's obvious it needs to come apart for cleaning, well the loctite is impossible to clean off the threads, my time is worth much more to me than what it would take to fully clean those threads and make it serviceable. My supplier gave me a refund and I got a finex gun that I love but I started noticing all the low end guns that were made exactly the same. They all have a thick plastic piece behind the nozzle, many different brands and grades of guns but any with the plastic piece behind the nozzle has the nozzle glued on. As for me that makes it a one use gun whether it's a $10 purple gun or a $70 cheap gun from the autobody supply house.

still 44.00 at speedway under the titan brand. same gun. . toluene will dissolve the locktite . it is the only solvent that will cut glue. i use it to thin my upholstery glue and clean up the gun . funny thing is i bought one as a throw away to shoot slicksand 5 years ago. still going strong .

only thing worth carrying out of hf is the cash register .
Agree in principal but I do have to say the US General Toolboxes are a good value. I have three of them, 56" top and bottom, and a 44 inch cabinet. They are far superior to any of the Craftsman boxes available over the years. I wish I had never spent the ridiculous money that I did on the Snap-On boxes and Mac Macsimizer boxes.
