Waiver of Liability

Hi Guys Like to throw something out to us shop owners. Do you have the people who enters the shop sign a waiver of liability or a form to protect you from the poor guy who slips on a object on the floor and falls and hurts them self? I do now and only allow a very few in my shop. { please don't ask me } Tom

No waiver here, but we do have a sign saying "Authorized Personnel Only." We don't invite people in very often. I have been of the opinion that my garagekeeper's would cover any mishap, but I've never had to put it to the test.

They say the waivers of liability have nothing to do when the case goes to court. Just like waivers at drag strips, sporting events, on the back of every ticket ever purchased for a concert, the waiver could keep most from suing, but todays world, I would suggest keeping people out.

I have a sign outside for no soliciting, see guard dog for details. Even though I have one of the most gentle pit bulls in existence, just keep people out.

With our operation, it is hell to get or buy insurance.
As a result, you have a fire policy with one company, liability and pollution with another, and workman's comp with another, and company vehicles with another.
The one company sends an inspector every 2 to 3 years and a few years ago 10 to 12 I asked him about visitors
And he point blank said never past the office, and you are 100% liable if you allow it no matter what sign you have up.
If you don't get run over by one of the forklifts and don't lite a cig, you have a fair chance of getting out alive.
Lol

Very fine line ................ins adjuster wants to see the car in shop or customer has to come in to look at their car . Crazy in todays world.

What do you call 50 lawyers and 25 insurance adjusters at the bottom of a deep pit.....????? Anyone?

I get this, but not off the street. Make the appointment, then you have time sweep up, pick shit up, or stupify a path to their vehicle and do not let them move off the path of anything but the roof caving in will harm them.
