Doug Kennedy, who handles our Canadian distribution, is going to pass along to me photos and information to post regarding Charlie Dorner's restoration project. Here's Charlie in his own words:
My name is Charlie Dorner I own & operate a small truck & trailer repair shop in Chatham Ontario Canada and I have also restored old trucks. For years I’ve been looking for Waylon Jennings old 1966 B77 Mack. This truck was used to haul his band and stage equipment from concert to concert in the 70’s and 80’s. On September 1st. 2012 my wife and myself along with our two sons Waylon and Chas Jr. went to a concert at Billy Bob’s in Fortworth, Texas and on the night before the concert we were patronizing a local bar and by coincidence Shooter Jennings {Waylon’s Son} along with Bo Jennings Waylon youngest brother entered the same bar. My wife recognized Shooter I immediately went and introduced myself and my son Waylon to them. Shooter then introduced us to his uncle Bo. I then asked him about Waylon’s B77 he said he owned it. Bo was not interested in selling the Mack but possibly my son and I could restore it for him. After several e-mails of some of my restoration jobs on my older trucks Bo and his son Justin Jennings decided that it was time to see if Miss Jessi could be restored on October 4th. Waylon and I flew to Whiteface Texas to spend a few days with Bo and his family and to check over Miss Jessi .We made a deal with Bo to bring the mack back to Canada for Waylon and myself and restore Miss Jessi which is the name Waylon Jennings gave to his truck. The name Miss Jessi comes from Jessi Colter Waylons wife. A week later my son got a load out to Texas with his flatbed trailer and we loaded her up and brought her back to Canada. On October 23[SUP]rd[/SUP] Waylon, myself and my brother Mike went on a vacation to Cuba for a week. Now back from holidays it’s time to start restoring Miss Jessi. The drive train was to be done at Waylon’s shop and the rest at my shop. A month into the restoration our son Waylon passed away at the age of 32 of heart failure on November 30[SUP]th[/SUP]. Our son was very well known for his fleet of classic rolled back cabovers and his rare 1975 Powerliner. His trucking company was called Waylon Dorner Transport. I’m going on with the project now in memory of two Waylons. One being Waylon Jennings who was my idol, and the other is my son Waylon whom I named him after.
