What is the difference between these 2 types of Dynabrade orbital palm sanders?

I am planning to buy a 5" or 6" random orbit palm sander soon. Leaning heavily towards the Dynabrade models.
Will need it for sanding body-filler, wet sanding clear, scuffing clear and basecoat.

Wondering what the difference is between these 2 styles of Dynabrades? Both are 5" or 6" random orbit with 3/16" orbit and integrated vaccuum.

X series Dynabrade

Dynaorbital series.

One on top is a newer sander. Either one will be a good one. Is there a reason you want a vacuum model? If you aren't working somewhere that has vac's you really don't need it or even want it.
I am not sure if the shop that may or may not hire me needs vaccuum. I only looked at the vaccuum model because I figured if a shop does not require it I can just remove the attachment, at the point where it connects to the base.

There is a parting line at the location indicated by the red arrow . I assume I can remove the attachment there? If I can remove it, would the sander just works as a normal non vaccuum sander?

Here's the thing about vacuum systems. Most Shop Owners are cheap and don't want to buy another piece of equipment unless it's required by Law. Plus employees hate them. So I would check with the Shop you are looking to get hired at and see if they have one. I've only worked at one Shop that did and half the guys there wouldn't use it. Owner would chastise everyone, guys would use it for a few days and go back to not using it. Eventually the Owner got rid of it. Everyone was happy. Vacuum throws the balance of the machine off IMO. If you have to have it that's one thing, if not that's another.
As for the particulars of that model, I don't know as I don't have one. Try going to the Dynabrade website and reads the specs. If it's removable it will say so there.

Anyone here use the X series Dynabrades ? The other types are still being sold by Dynabrade so I am wondering what the pros/cons are for each style.

I will hold off on getting a sander until / if I land the job, and then see if the shop requires vaccuum. If they don't care, I will get the non-vaccuum version.
