Who knew that Barry loves cars and the dogs that chase them? Go to the "hero of the month" story.

I would encourage anyone thinking about getting a pet to adopt a shelter pet. Here is a picture of my Pitbull Dutchie. She passed away over 2 years ago now and not a day goes by that I don't think of her. I'm getting choked up now thinking of her.

Also don't be scared of Pit Bulls. They make some of the sweetest best pets around. I also have 2 other rescue dogs currently, Patch was abandoned and a neighborhood stray, when nearby farmer shot him and his brother and one other dog. Sadly the others died. By some miracle Patch made it to my home (I had been feeding them). After surgery he's recovered and doing great. He's a lazy dog though:)

I have one more named Tess. (She's the black one. The little pudgie is my Mom's:))Tess loves to roam in the field looking for things. Her other love is eating. She's also never met a stranger. Just a sweet gentle dog.DSCN0326.JPG

All shelter/rescue dogs that have added so much to my life (and others).

Me too. Two rescue dogs laying on the sofa with me now. I've had nothing but rescue dogs for 30 years. They deserve our help/love.

She was found on an abandoned propery, tied to a fence with a torn ACL. Virtually starved to death she is now, 5 years later, a healthy 80 lb-er

Wow, thanks guys, since we moved the plant to this town, we have fallen in love with how the no-kill animal shelter is run here, contrary to one part of the story where funds dried up, not sure how the got that fact, that never happens.
We have given a minimum of $10,000 a year to the shelter as well as buying them a camera system for all two locations and replacing the heating system.

SPI also just wrote a check for $5000 to the police department for the annual Christmas shop with a cop fund that we donate to every year. Ninety-nine families where the kids are living with grandparents becsuse the parents are in prison mostly for drugs. Walmart also gives 5000 a year to the fund and gives us a significant discount on the gifts we purchase.

We love this town and try to be a good neighbor.

That funds line was really odd. Thanks for your philanthropy!

barry, that is awesome to read!
ive been volunteering at a local rescue since about march now. a few days/week.although the dog walking part is nice, i really enjoy working with the new dogs and helping them become comfortable in the new surroundings.. plus, helping wherever possible(recently hooked up the dog bath in MARLS temp location. i got to break it in on some pups,too-it was cool!)
All rescues are greatful for all help and love it even if its just 1 day a month a person can help. its been a blessing to see what they do.
ive seen some remarkable turnarounds of some in very serious shape. this here is faith(about 4 weeks after giving birth). she came in horribly amaciated, tick covered with 2 tick born diseases, and after vet visit learned she was preggers and close to giving birth. she was literally skin, bones, and very little muscle.remarkably, she gave birth 3 days after arrival to 7 healthy puppies and she did an amazing job takin care of her pups(pics of pups are at about 5 weeks).she started putting on weight real quick, too. Faith got adopted last week and MARL is down to 3 of her pups-AWESOME!

I really admire you Barry. Not trying to embarrass you but from the times I've talked to you on the phone to stuff like this. Honestly it's guys like you (and my faith :)) that inspire me to try harder and try to be something more than what I am. I mean that.

I thought the funds dried up while you were busy sounded retarded. I mean what person that does these sort of donations just quits at it because they are busy making more money. People that love dogs love them just as much when they are busy, end of story.

I'm still between pets right now, but I did used to have a really long weiner. 2 actually.

I only have one weiner and it's not very long.

This is one of my grandkids setting in an office chair, making sure I work that is Tank. Andy got him and his sister from the boxer rescue mission.
Paisley and Tank spend about 2 to 4 hours a day at the office. Spoiled.
