Why you don’t apply filler over bare metal and other sins…

I'm not gonna say if its right or wrong to put filler on bare metal.. That topic has been beat to death around here. But that right there is like shine said, a surface failure.

The high end shop I used to work for had all kinds of issues with paint and bodywork popping off, come to find out they were using a metal prep and not properly removing it before paint. I found that out after I started there and the first few panels I sanded and epoxied I could remove the epoxy with my fingernail.

I don't support Facebook so no access to the post.

While I agree that epoxy first is best, there are times when applying filler directly to properly prepared metal is acceptable.
I personally don't think there should be any holes in the metal, as that would allow moisture to enter through the back side, unless properly sealed.

I am on Facebook for access to the Marketplace which is the new Craigslist for project cars. A couple of the paint and body forums are entertaining at times. :) Jimmie K is also amusing sometimes. :)

Ive been looking for a 58/59 Chevy Fleetside big window short bed. Saw one in San Antonio. Sent the guy a deposit on PayPal after verifying he had a good title. Drove all the way down there only to find the VIN tag was missing. Was a little chapped. Learned a lesson there :)

I was hitched up and packed up to make a trip to Tennessee for a 60 hardtop guy had a bunch of.pictures and a good story. I totally forgot to ask for a picture of the vin. Then it dawned on me when I was about to leave, so I called him and told him, it's silly but just to confirm I forgot to ask if the vin tag was in tact....then the stories started. Had to pass. I was really.bummed I was ready for a road trip and a solid car. Saved 500 in gas and about 30hrs on the road. There's a 58 fleet side short bed down here in angleton. I see it a few times at the dairy queen. I'd like one of those next myself

Don now when talking to a seller( if you can get them to talk over the phone) I ask if the Vin# matches the title!!! Quite a few older cars and trucks with no vin plate.
