Hello guys, I have a 1/2 inch by 3 inch long spot repair I need to spray. What is the best method to mask this little area ?? I'm trying to avoid hard tape lines. Thank you.

I tape magnets to the back of a piece of masking paper, it holds the
paper off the surface about 1/4", I slide the paper away from the spot about
a 1/2" after every pass with the spray gun.

You can fold the masking tape over on itself so about 1/4” of it makes a flap. Not sure what it’s called soft masking maybe? I’ve used it before and as a newb it worked quite well.

It's called back masking. Use 1 1/2 or 2" tape. Tape the border in such a way that you can pull the tape back over on itself. You can fasten the pulled back edge with a bit of 3/4" tape to keep it from flipping back over. Very easy to do and leaves a very nice soft edge.

Whatever method you use, you need to be able to move it a little
after each spray pass of base and clear..

I finally got around to repair this small area. Your magnet trick worked flawlessly ! I also did some back masking on other areas and everything came out excellent. Thanks for the tip !!
