2K Primer

I have a collision shop, and I usually use 2k urethane primer and 2k sealer. I wanted to know if the SPI 2k sealer, when mixed 4:1, would be a good everyday primer. Since it's available in white, grey and black, I could use it without having a lot of inventory at the shop.

Does it sand good? Does it shrink? Why I am asking this, is that there is a 2k primer available, but if the 2k sealer can be used as such, what is the use of the 2k primer. Also there isn't a white available.

As a primer, it is they type you will love or hate, no in-between.
Fills good but slightly less then the regular build at 4:1, the product is very tightly wound to be a sealer, so shrinkage, should not be an issue.
Of the people I know that use it are doing very high end work and they seem to love it.

Perfect, I am not the kind of guy that cuts corners and counts on the primer to cover me. I will give it a try, if I don't like it, there is always the regular build 2k primer, anyhow, I always keep sealer in stock, so it wont be wasted. Thank you.

Ordered 2k sealer today, will be getting it tomorrow morning! I

Finally tried it, as with all the SPI products I tried, I am very happy. 4:1, sprays perfectly out of a 1.8 gun, and it sprays very smooth. Sands nicely.......and it smells good too! LOL I will be ordering the white and black as soon as I finish the remaining of what I used to use before.

I have been saying for years I want to try using the SPI sealer as a primer.. By the time I get to the 2k primer it practically doesn't even need it, so using the sealer would probably be perfect for what I want..

Maybe on the next project.

Hello All
Just got done spraying SPI Epoxy MIXED as a SEALER ( 1 : 1 : 1 )
(over the top of 600 blocked Featerfill G2.)

Next step will be 2 - Coats of SPI Regular K2
QUESTION: How Long should I wait for the REDUCED SPI Epoxy to cure?
(Again the Epoxy was REDUCED ( 1 : 1 : 1 )
Thank You

So, I have been using the 2K sealer since a couple of weeks, very happy, as with the other line. I think a picture is worth a thousand words.

Finally, I had the chance to work with the 2K sealer, first gallon almost gone, used it as a sealer, and a primer, works very good for me. Once again, I am very happy with SPI products, but sometimes, pictures are worth a thousand words.
