42” DC fan motor

I have an older used 42 in DC (GE) fan and the motor sometimes doesn’t want to spin. Either an old dried out start capacitor or dirty brushed me thinks. Do these motors use start caps? It’s rather compact……I’ll have to pull the whole assembly apart to get at and trying to determine as much as I can before I get to it…

wd40 is your friend.

Actually for electronics Deoxit is more appropriate. WD40 is NOT good for electrical contacts wires components etc. if you don’t know what Deoxit is look it up it’s worth having in your tool box. I work in electronics…

i've soaked motors in it. it's just fish oil. i've also used pb blaster.

People also used carbon fiber for deep sea submersibles.
