Agitator cups

Re those cups with the little air hose that is connected to it to agitate metallic paint any beneficial to spraying metallics?

Just wondering. Have never actually heard or read any experiences

Those are for flake. Regular metallic doesn't fall out of suspension that quickly to need special agitation.

Those cups have been around longer then I have and only place I can see a useful purpose, is if you are spray boats with real large flake.

Steve, which one are you looking at? I've been keeping an eye open for one with a very large tip for spraying flake.

I was just searching to reorder some 3m pps cups and noticed they had one and it sparked my curiosity

Thats for the 2.0 gun. Its not in the cup, it basically pushes pressure in the cup to squeeze the liner. We use it spraying the heavy CARC coating that we dont reduce and it does a really nice job. Its basically using the pressure pot idea of putting a few PSI in your pot pushing liquid thru the feed hose. Its kinda like if you were squeezing the bag and forcing the paint out.
