Any ideas on adhering paper to wood under clearcoat?

I have made a few sets of cornhole boards (or bean bag boards for you northerners) using UV clear as a topcoat. I have either used paint or decals under the clear and they have worked out great. For the next set of boards I want to keep the wood bare, affix some pieces of paper to the bare wood, and then clear the whole thing, sealing the paper under the clear. My only two thoughts are to either lightly use contact cement, or clear the wood and apply the paper to the clear while it's still somewhat tacky and then reclear. Using the contact cement would be easier, however I'm a little worried about the solvents in the cement hanging around too long and then jacking up my clear later on down the road.

Any thoughts or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

I think contact cement to wood should be fine, no different than putting veneer on & finishing it. Lol its corn hole in this neck of the woods (Erie pa).

I'd go with contact cement also.

Never done it but I think you'll have to keep an eye on the first coat spraying really light not to bleed out ink in the paper. Maybe some intercoat clear?

We call them bean bags boards here.

I have done this a number of times on various wood working projects.
Get your materials ready to go. Spray a coat of clear, let it lightly tack, lay the paper onto it, using a piece of parchment paper lightly press the paper(s) onto the clear. Bury with more clear.

Thanks guys. I'm going to give this a shot in the next couple of weeks. I'll let you know how it turns out!

I've done photos under UV clear many times without any problems, paper should work fine
