Been stripping for awhile, need advice!

I have been stripping the underbody and firewall on my 68 Camaro for quite some time now. I have never worked on cars and have been doing a lot of learning as I go along. Mostly, I start one project and figure out two more I have to do first. For instance, I removed the rear end and suspension to replace with new parts. Then, I saw the underbody and decided I would strip and repaint it before putting my nice new parts back in. I began stripping paint using poly-carbon abrasive discs that attach to my drill. It's almost done, but now, after reading some posts on this forum, I am wondering if this is an acceptable technique. I would have liked to have it blasted and primed but it is currently sitting on jack stands and no wheels yet.

Should I invest in a Harbor Freight blaster or is that insufficient? Is the way I am doing it now acceptable to avoid paint failure?

Alright, enough....your turn!

TIA, Dan

What is a poly-carbon abrasive disc? Is it a flap wheel?

Of course blasting is best, but on your back with a hand held is not gonna happen.

You need to ask yourself how nice you want the underside. if you want it primo, you'll need to have somebody blast it for you, or invest in some expensive stuff to get it done acceptably well, like a rotisserie and a proper blast rig.
