Best advice to sand near body lines?

I'm trying to get started with my '79 Elcamino soon and am wondering after I apply my primer to my vehicle how do I sand near the quaterpanel body lines?

The lower body line I am asuming you use a teardrop type of sanding block. However the upper body line is even smaller....what's the best approach?

Some things are easier shown than described in words but keep this rule in mind when you're blocking out a panel-block the major areas out first then blend in the small contours. You'll need a variety of shapes to do the blocking well, using guidecoat is mandatory if you want good results. Wood dowel, plastic tubing, rubber hose, foam blocks, rigid blocks-they all work and have their application. As you block and perfect the shape of the panel your bodylines will sharpen and you'll then need to round them off to the way you want them.

Looking back, a lot of the techniques have been learned through trial and error, doing the repair then viewing the shiny, painted results. Mental notes of any irregularities lead to modified techniques next time. For me, control of the block motion and directed application of light pressure are just as important than the tool, though having the right shaped block certainly helps. Lots of guys would block almost that whole Elky panel with a flat block, using a round foam block in the lower contours only to smooth out any cut marks from the flat block. Up above needs only a flat block too, and a little practice. A flat foam block might help for around the back corner and the curve of the wheel opening.
