bonding metal to fiberglass

Hey guys just wanted to get some of your thoughts on a new project i have. It is an fiberglass autocar semi hood. The hinge/ grille structure has rusted out inside the fiberglass it is the main structure for the nose of hood not really much metal in there for a 600 lb hood but anyway i have cut the metal loose and removed it the fiberglass is in good shape all the factory did was lay mat over metal which is full of 1 in holes. Im going to make new hinge structure was wandering your guys thoughts on bonding these back to hood products etc. Structural glass work is new to me. I have done glass work just not something this heavy duty. Any suggestions will be appreciated
Thanks Justin

you will want to bond the hinge to the glass using a methylmethacrylate type adhesve. something like plexus ma-310. of course be sure the glass and metal are both grinded really well with 36grit. once its hardened you can lay glass over it again. its probably not necessary but wouldnt hurt. the bond should be stronger than the glass itself
