Clay pads for a buffer?

This is a dumb question but with clay bars I have always used them with a back and forth motion. Not 45 cross hatch like when sanding. Nor do I go in a circle when using clay bars. This was following the package directions.

But I just got a 6" DA clay pad? Is there any problem using a clay type material in a circular power tool? This is a new application and I have not tried out my new clay pad yet.

Anybody see any artifacts from using clay pads in a circular motion? Kind of the same question when using the new clay gloves? Back and forth motion only or does it matter?

I don’t understand what you’re saying here
I get this all the time. Say you're clay baring a hood. Do a section, then, feel it with a bare hand. Now, put a baggie on your hand and feel the same place. 9/10 times it will feel rough. Now, clay that section again and check it with the bagged hand. It should be getting progressively smoother.

My experience with it is pretty limited, but I can say I've been amazed at how the clay pad has pulled clear overspray "dust" off of uncovered panels. The overspray wouldn't buff off, tried to use 3000 Buflex to remove it with not much success and didn't really want to go down in grit to get it off. I'd only used clay bars once before, years ago, and went on Amazon to order some to try out. That's when I saw the pads and thought that looked much easier! I use a spray bottle with water and Dawn soap for the lube and it really does work. Sometimes I have to keep after it awhile but it does take it off. I've not seen any artifacts or drawbacks at all.

I’ve heard people say the same about feeling bodywork…to run across it with something smooth. It kinda amplifies the surface you feel everything.
