So what is the best process to clean bare metal after its been sand blasted or da w/80 before epoxy? I've saw a few post about dawn and water. Just doesn't seem good 2 use water on bare metal.. how about w&g 700? 710?

Guess what? all your new replacement parts you order that come in ecoat water is used??
Done a 100 ways but SPI recommends, cleaning with 700 after blasting, da with 80 and wash with 700 and epoxy.
Some real high end shops use the 700 first and then the 710 but that is up to you.

So is 700 the (go to) cleaner for most of the shop needs?

I used to think the same about water and metal....until I tried it. I'll share my process.

1. Degrease and power wash parts
2. Blast
3. Scrub with dawn and rinse.
4. Blow off parts and spray down with 700 right away (this step seems to cut down on flash rust considerably)
5. Wipe dry
6. Blow off and wipe the splatter
7. Blow off again
8. Wait at least and hour and blow off again
9. If everything is dry, then epoxy

* I use 710 before epoxy if I suspect there could have been contamination, like a seam that may have been difficult to get all the grease out of.

* I rub the parts down with scotch brite if I have a problem with rag fuzzies, then blow off the dust. Scotch brite also works well for rust spots where water may have settled.
