Clear over clear

I sprayed a medium 1st coat of clear of last night. It looks good and does not require sanding or run removal. Suprisingly enough, it looks really good. This is SPI UV clear. In the past, I've always sanded in between coats because of crap stuck in the clear. Is it Ok to spray another clear coat 12-16 hours later with out scuffing?

Could you??? Yes, but I would call Barry and get his blessing before you do so my friend.. This is not something you can just give a blanket statement of Yes on the internet, because there are variables that will determine whether you can or cannot do this... If you said yes to all, then SPI would be getting calls for failures down the line...

So, technically you should always sand...

Your right, as is the little voice in my head. I know the correct way is to sand for the best adhesion. I've never sprayed clear so well before and just wondered. It's been cool here, 65'f , so i will let it sit and try to let it cure a bit, before I sand.

Universal Clear has a 24 hour open time before having to re-scuff for adhesion.
