Oldtimer
Well my jobber now has the ability to mix jet stream blue metallic on site. The large chevy dealer sells and repairs many vettes near me so my jobber now stocks all tints necessary to create this color. I was thinking of using this color on my 68 camaro with some new white pearl material my jobber also recently got. The blue would be the main body color, and I'd have white pearl stripes, the white pearl has a greenish tint in it at different angles, much like the jet stream blue. PROBLEM: I heard that the jet stream blue can be tough to repair and match down the road. On a project like a 68 camaro I often like to paint panels off the vehicle...I'm guessing I'd have trouble with color match? Is there a really close alternative that's easier to match/repair down the road, that I can also panel paint? I know panel painting can lead to problems with metallics, but I have been pretty successful, recording number of coats, air pressure, reducer etc. What do you guys think? Thanks, Dan.

buy an extra gallon or a couple quarts if u think ull have a problem. but its just another metallic/pearl color. when in doubt, blend it out. ive had to spot in candies with an airbrush and make it undectable. sooo its not really a big deal.

In basf it has a semi transparent toner or candy coat over it. Not sure if other systems are like that. It also has a bit of a color flop as well. Repairability should not be too bad but with a candy it wont be easy either.

Thanks guys, do you think I can panel paint this color?...if I monitor my number of coats, reducer, air pressure, etc?
