Hello,
I have used a FLG3 as my primer gun for the past year or so. I was hoping you guys could help me with problems I have had especially if you have this gun.
For the past year I have had problems getting it to spray primer right. I never really minded because as long as it went on I felt fine because it got sanded anyways. And for epoxy I just have to overlap a little weird to control the split pattern. But I would like to get it straightened out.
For SPI epoxy I use a 1.5mm fluid tip. I have the HVLP air cap and the conventional air cap. When I spray with the HVLP air cap I always get a split pattern, and when I spray with the conventional I get a bottom heavy pattern and it throws primer all over the top of the air cap. I have tried pressure at the gun from 23 up to 50 psi. At first I thought for sure I have settings problems or a clogged fluid tip, but recently I put another brand epoxy in the gun immediately after having problems with SPI epoxy and the pattern was perfect with no settings adjustment. Went back to SPI epoxy and problems again. I have also tried spraying full strength epoxy through the 1.3mm tip and I still get a split pattern.
For epoxy mixed as a sealer I use a 1.3mm fluid tip and a conventional air cap. It also sprays with a split pattern. Again, I immediately ran some lacquer thinner through the gun and mixed up some sealer of another brand and it sprayed with a perfect pattern. No gun adjustment at all really, but I did fine tune it a little.
Again, this isn't really a huge problem but I was wondering if I might be doing something wrong. I will answer any questions you may have.
Thanks
