I have always used duraglass for repairs on fiberglass then skim coated with rage gold or Z-grip. recently when I was at the jobber I noticed the can of 870 and I have noticed it talked about in high regards here ?

Just on a personal note and for many reasons of failure I hate duraglass and it is banned in this shop....your mileage may vary

Also if you ever do put this over an SMC panel because you don't know that it is it is coming off.
Stay with the 870 and just to be safe use the one for SMC at all times, you can use SMC for not but never non for SMC.

Banned was a days work, well done!

if it says dynatron bondo corp on the can it goes in the trash . duraglass is one of the worst products i have ever been stupid enough to use. around here it is a hanging offense .

 What should a person use for SMC and is also compatible with fiberglass?

870 says not for SMC ?

I'm in agreement with them all here. I've had it peel off like i never sanded the substrate. I use All Resin and 870 both on fiberglass and SMC.... Never had anything peel since doing so. I lost my butt on two jobs having used wrong products. I ended up stripping and starting all over out of MY pocket.. Wasnt a happy day either time for the ole polyester prince ;-)

870 is ok for a filler on smc just not the best for bonding .

A polyester body filler for fiberglass and SMC panels. No shrinkage. Helps prevent repair mapping on seam lines over fiberglass repairs. Used to bond fiberglass panels only, not SMC.
