Epoxy over galvanized layer?

I'm working on my 85 Chevy pick up bed and intend to remove the paint down to bare metal but it appears to have a layer of galvanize under the black primer and white top coat.
It's relatively hard to sand off but it can be done. My question is can I leave it on in places without worrying about effecting the bond of the epoxy primer?

It's probably galvannealed as opposed to galvanized. Similar but paint will stick to galvannealed. Strip the paint, 80 grit DA scratches on the metal and the epoxy will adhere fine.

OEM's use it because it has similar corrosion resistance without the adhesion issues that galvanized does.
